The Western Cape Biodiversity Spatial Plan (WCBSP) 2017 is the product of a systematic biodiversity planning assessment that delineates, ona map (via a Geographic Information System (GIS)), Critical Biodiversity Areas (CBAs) and Ecological Support Areas (ESAs) whichrequire safeguarding to ensure the continued existence and functioning of species and ecosystems, including the delivery of ecosystemservices, across terrestrial and freshwater realms. These spatial priorities are used to inform sustainable development in the WesternCape Province. This product replaces all previous systematic biodiversity planning products and sector plans with updated layers andfeatures.
This layer covers the area of Breede ValleyLocal Municipality.
This layer contains Critical Biodiversity Areas category 1 (CBA1) which are those CBAs likely to be in a natural condition. These are divided into subcategories forest, terrestrial, river, wetlandand or estuary which allows greater specificity when applying land use guidelines. Publication Date: 6 March 2017
